Travel Ban For All of Howell

Roads closed as storm continues to cause damage

As the rain from hurricane Irene continues to fall in Howell, residents are banned from driving anywhere in the township as a full travel ban has been implemented.

Township Manager Helene Schlegel, who will be assessing the damage around town this morning, said downed power lines and trees as well as heavy flooding has necessitated the ban. Several major roadways including Route 9 and Herbertsville Road are also closed.

Schlegel said only emergency vehicles are allowed on the roads at this time as well as people going to the emergency shelter at Colts Neck High School. The school is located at 59 Five Points Rd. in Colts Neck.
