Two Meeting on the Agenda Makes For a Busy Week

Zoning Board and Board of Ed scheduled to meet

It is another summer week here in Howell, and once again there is plenty to do not only inside the township, but also just outside the borders as well.

One of the biggest things happening today is the from the storm last month. There are parts of town where large chunks of trees that once stood and are now on the curb can be seen in pieces of their former selves. This process should remove those chunks allowing residents of the township to go about their normal lives.

For those looking to get out of the house during the day with their young ones, the library is once again loaded with activities starting at 11 a.m. today with baby story time. That will be followed by a meeting of the Mahjong Club at 1 p.m. and story time at 4:15 p.m.

While the agenda had not been posted as of Sunday night, there is a zoning board meeting scheduled to start at 8 p.m. tonight at town hall. The main meeting room figures to be a popular place this month as next Tuesday the town council will be holding its first meeting in two months. That agenda for that also has not been released yet, but it figures to have plenty of items of interest to residents.

Having held a story time for the youngest and some of the older residents on Monday, the library will be holding a toddler story time at 9:30 on Tuesday morning to bring in that group of youngsters. Then, on Wednesday at 2 p.m. the library will be holding a school age story time for those children who are just a month away from heading back into the classroom. The library will also hold a dog therapy reading session at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

On Thursday morning, a family story time will be held at 10:30 in the morning to continue a busy slate of events at the library. The library will also continue its tribute to legendary of actress Elizabeth Taylor with Thursday afternoon's 1 p.m. movie. This week's selection is one of her most famous works, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. The tribute concludes next week when Who's Afraid of Virginia Wolf will be shown.

Also on Thursday, the Chamber of Commerce will hold an event at the Home Depot on Route 9 called "How to Landscape Your Business on a Budget." The event starts at 11:45 a.m. and costs just $15 for members and $25 for non members. The fee will allow members and non members alike to network while also providing light refreshments and valuable lessons for businesses in the area.

School may not be in session yet, but there still appears to be plenty of items on the agenda for Thursday's board of education meeting. The board is scheduled to meet just one more time after tonight before schools are back in September. As always, the meeting is scheduled to start at 8 p.m. in the cafetorium of Middle School North.
