Wild Weather Brings Cooler Temperatures to Howell

Rain, hail and lightning made for an interesting night

It is safe to say that the storm that rolled through Howell on Wednesday night was a unique experience to say the least.

It may not have lasted very long but when it hit the town it brought drenching rain, a little hail, and one house was also hit by a random lightning strike. The good news is that the storm helped to not only cut down on the temperature, it also brought the humidity and the allergy irritants way down.

The break in temperature means that the high for today is expected to be only near 80, but a good wind should make it feel even nicer than that. That should also make things a little more manageable for the Howell Lady Rebel softball team when they travel to take on Rancocas Valley at 4 p.m. in the Central Jersey Group IV finals.

If you are planning on going to the planning board meeting at 7 p.m. tonight it might feel a little chilly by the time you get out. The low for the night is only expected to be in the 50's with a nice breeze to go along with it.

And if you are wondering what the weekend will look like, the National Weather Service says you can expect sunny skies and temperatures no higher than the low 80's. That means for those Howell High School students going to the prom tomorrow night there should be no need for an umbrella and a chance to enjoy the outdoors on their memorable night.

The only time rain is even a possibility is Saturday night, but that is only pegged to be in the 30 percent range.
