Millions of people will be traveling for the unofficial close of summer this weekend for the Labor Day holiday.

AAA predicts 34.1 million Americans will travel this weekend.

More than 80 percent of those traveling for the holiday will be hitting the road by vehicle.

If you are flying, you are likely paying more than you did last year with the average lowest round trip ticket rate hitting $214 for the top 40 American major airports compared to $205 in 2012, according to AAA.

"For many Americans, positive economic growth, coupled with decreasing gas prices, contribute to an increased comfort level about traveling for the last three-day weekend of summer. And as schools across the nation usher in their next session of students, the Labor Day holiday provides families with the opportunity for one final extended summer weekend getaway," said Jenny M. Robinson, Manager of Public and Government Affairs for AAA Mid-Atlantic, in a press release.
