Howell Halloween 2012 Activities

Fun for all ages starting this weekend

Halloween may be more than a week away but there are still plenty of ways to get into the holiday spirit starting this weekend. 

On Saturday the Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore will welcome guests of all ages for its annual Jersey Shore Spooktacular. Held at the Sacajawea Day Camp in Farmingdale for Family Day. The event runs from noon until 3 p.m. and is open to everyone and not just Girl Scouts. The cost is $8.50 per person and children under the age of three are free. 

The Blue Moon Kruizers will also be holding a Halloween Car Cruise to benefit the Howell Food Pantry. The cruise will be held at the Chick-Fil-A parking lot from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. For those wishing to show off their cars there is a $10 minimum donation for all cars through 1992 and special interest vehicles through 2012. Special awards will be given for best decorated car and adult and children's costumes.

Howell Township will host its annual Halloween Spooktacular on Wednesday night from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at Oak Glen Park and everyone coming is encouraged to bring a can or box of pet food that can be donated to the local Humane Society.

There is also a special event for teens set for Oct. 27 when New Jersey Pro Disc Jockeys will be hosting a Hallowteen Blackout Party at Echo Lake Park from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. The event is designed for teens between the ages of 15 and 20 and "will be promoting a healthy, clean and safe party environment."

Also on the 27th The Action Room will be hosting a "Thrill the World" fundraiser for the Rescue Ridge Animal Rescue at 1:30 p.m. Paula and Carole from the Magic Garden will be performing as part of ther 40th anniversary tour. 

Admission to the event is $5 wth all proceeds going to the animal facility. There will be a dog costume contest, a bag pipe band, people in costume as well as face and pumpkin painting and more.

On the actual day of Halloween the Howell Police Athletic League will host its Trunk or Treat Fundraiser from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Chick-Fil-A from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. 15 percent of all purchases will benefit the PAL and there will be special prizes for the best adult and child costumes. 

There will also be free candy and kids meals for all children in costume at the event.
