Pinnacle Golf Honors Kathy Neighbour of Avon by the Sea for Breast Cancer Efforts

Kathy Neighbour of Avon by the Sea is being honored by the Pinnacle Golf for her breast cancer efforts. A $10,000 donation to Susan G. Komen for the Cure will be made in her name.

In March, Pinnacle Golf set out to find golfers who have “gone the distance” in the fight against breast cancer. Today, Pinnacle is excited to announce that Kathy Neighbour from Avon by the Sea, NJ has been named as one of the 10 honorees in the Pinnacle Golf Going the Distance Awards.

The program celebrates and honors golfers who are making an impact in battling this disease through their passion for finding a cure, fundraising efforts and volunteerism. Kathy will have a $10,000 donation made in her name to Susan G. Komen for the Cure to help fund critical breast cancer research.

Kathy’s nomination and selection were based on four key criteria:

  • Dedication to the fight against breast cancer demonstrating a personal passion and commitment to furthering the cause
  • Impact on others’ lives or the community
  • Strong tie to breast cancer
  • Connection to, and passion for, golf

Nominated by members of the community, Kathy – a 13-year breast cancer survivor – has been influential when it comes to raising funds and awareness in the fight against breast cancer in her local community.  Kathy commits herself to volunteer work, fundraising and participation in various events including Avon Walk for Breast Cancer and Rally for the Cure Golf Tournaments. Since 2010, she has assisted Colts Neck Golf Club to make their Rally for the Cure Golf Tournament a lucrative, fun and yearly event, and the number of participants and donations has continued to rise under her leadership.

In June of 2000, Kathy was diagnosed with breast cancer and underwent a mastectomy, reconstructive surgery and chemotherapy. Like anyone facing such a diagnosis, she was afraid and assumed her life was ending but 13 years later, she is a strong and healthy survivor. She lives a healthy life and playing golf is a big part of it. Kathy never misses an opportunity to hit the golf course, help a
new player or make new friends. She has taken her passion for golf combined
with her dedication to the fight against breast cancer and worked tirelessly to
make each Rally for the Cure Tournament a bigger success.
