Farmingdale Resident Wilma Terhune Dies at 91

Moved back to New Jersey in 2002.

Wilma "Granny" Terhune, 91, of Farmingdale, NJ, passed away on December 18, 2013 at her home with her family beside her. She was born on April 25, 1922 in Neptune, NJ to Earl and Viola Leaycraft.  Wilma and her husband Frederick resided in Florida for 32 years before returning to NJ in 2002 to be closer to family. 

Wilma was a housewife and mother but she was so much more than that, she was a Girl Scout Leader for her daughters, she helped to build the family home, she was a knitter and crocheter, she loved socializing with her many friends, and she enjoyed making ceramics. 

Wilma was also very fond of games, she loved to play Bunko and she was an avid bowler, so much so that she is a member of the 300 Club.  Of all the hobbies and activities that Wilma enjoyed, her greatest love was being with her loving family, she was an inspiration to all who knew her and will be deeply missed.

Surviving are her sister, Eleanor Huxtley, 92; her son Earl Terhune; her three daughters, Ruth Rye, Terrie Carny, and Star and her husband, Stephen Krist; her daughter-in-law, Nancy Terhune; her 10 grandchildren, Tracy, Scott, Kim, Kory, Kelly, Jason, Delaine, Jodie, Stephen, and Daniele; her 11 great-grandchildren, Kaity, Michael, Meredith, Maxwell, Shain, Jenna, Kylee, Will, Russell, Ryan, and Dylan; and her great-great-grandson, Joey.

Wilma was preceded in death by her beloved husband Frederick Terhune in 2008, and her son, Russell Terhune in 2002.
