Flags at Half Staff Jan. 2 to Honor Schwarzkopf

Gen. Schwarzkopf, born in Trenton, died Dec. 27

An executive order honoring Operation Desert Storm's commander, Gen. H. Norman Schwarzkopf, ordered flags to fly at half staff in honor of the New Jersey native, who died Dec. 27.

Jan. 2, all flags will fly at half staff. Gov. Chris Christie signed a resolution last week honoring Schwarzkopf.

Schwarzkopf was born in Trenton and lived in Lawrenceville for a portion of his celebrated life. His children grew up in Englishtown and his father was a founding superintendent of New Jersey State Police.

forces out of Kuwait in 1991; Schwarzkopf retired a year later and went on to write a best-selling autobiography.
