Former Fireman, Veteran Dies at 78

Visitation for Bill Cooper will be 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at a funeral home in Neptune City.

A former fireman for the Ramtown Fire Company died Friday at his home in Neptune City.

Bill Cooper, 78, was born in Thomasville, GA. He then moved to Howell where he was a fireman for the Ramtown Fire Company before finally residing to Neptune City, according to his obituary on Legacy.com.

Cooper served in the 108th Airborne Division of the Army and was wounded in combat during the Korean War, earning the Purple Heart.

Visitation is from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, July 11 at the Francioni, Taylor and Lopez Funeral Home at 1200 10th and Atkins Ave., Neptune. A service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday, July 12 at the funeral home. Interment to follow at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to the SPCA, 260 Wall St., Eatontown.
