Former Howell Resident, Township Employee Phyllis Ruela Dies at 66

She attended the Church of St. Veronica for 30 years.

Phyllis Ruela, 66, of Brick passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at Ocean Medical Center at Brick.  Phyllis was born in Newark and was raised and had lived in Irvington before moving to Howell and then settling to Brick in 2003. She was a homemaker who also worked as a secretary for Howell Township and the Monmouth County Board of Social Services.  Phyllis was also a manicurist.  As a devoted parishioner, she attended the Church of St. Veronica, Howell, for over 30 years.

Phyllis was predeceased by her husband, Abilio in 1997.  She is survived by two sons, Abilio Jason Ruela and his girlfriend, Kristina Paradise of Brick and Stephen Ruela and his Fiancée, Dana Kaplan of Brick; a grandson, Abilio John; her fiancé, Norman Christie of Woodbridge; and a brother, Anthony Correia and his family of Phoenix, Arizona.

A visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Monday, February 24, 2014 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM.  Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home on Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at 8:30 AM for the Procession to the Church of St. Veronica, 2415 Route 9 North, Howell for her 9:30 AM Funeral Mass.  Interment will follow in Brig.
