Lifelong Howell Resident John Rooney Jr. Dies at 85

Rooney was a veteran who worked as an assembler at Foster Canning Company in Farmingdale for 40 years.

John Rooney Jr., 85, of Red Bank passed away on Sunday, February 2, 2014 at Community Medical Center, Toms River. John was born in Perrineville and was a lifelong resident of Howell Township. He was an assembler at Foster Canning Company, Farmingdale for 40 years. John was a US Army Veteran serving during the Korean War and was a member of the Am Vets.

He was predeceased by his wife, Pauline Rooney in 1975. John is survived by a daughter, Robin R. Anspach of Sugarland, Texas; three granddaughters, Amanda Anspach, Ashley Anspach and Aimee Anspach; one grandson, Emanuel Elias; and one brother, Patrick Rooney of Farmingdale; and a sister, Emma Maghan.

Visitation will be held at Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Thursday, February 6, 2014 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his 11:00 AM funeral service on Friday, February 7, 2014 at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Old Tennent Cemetery, Tennent.
