Obituary: Anne Clayton McCarty, 74

Longtime Howell School teacher

Anne Clayton McCarty, 74, of Howell Township passed away at home on Thursday, April 26, 2012.  Anne was a lifelong resident of Howell Twp., spending her early years in the Adelphia section until moving to the Ramtown section of Howell. 

Mrs. McCarty was an elementary school teacher for the Howell Twp. Board of Education for over thirty-four years retiring from the Taunton School in 1996.  In 1974, she was nominated for the National Outstanding Teacher of the Year Award.  Mrs. McCarty was a former member of the Howell Twp. Planning Board and an active member of the National Republican Party. 

She was predeceased by her parents, C. Ensley & Louise W. Clayton and a brother, C. Ensley Clayton.  Anne is survived by two sons, Mark McCarty of Easton, PA and Steven McCarty and his wife, Jodi of St. Louis, MO; three grandchildren, Aishlyn, Kahlie, and Seannah McCarty; one brother, Charles Clayton of Taos, NM.

Visiting at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Monday, April 30, 2012 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM.  Relatives and friends are invited to attend her 11:00 AM funeral service at the funeral home on Tuesday, May 1, 2012.
