Obituary: Racine "Ray" Megill, 80

Lifelong resident of Howell and Farmingdale

Racine “Ray” E. Megill, 80, of Howell Township, passed away on Saturday, January 14, 2012 in the loving care of King Manor Care Center, Neptune, NJ.  Ray was born in Long Branch, NJ and was a lifelong Farmingdale-Howell resident.  He owned and operated his own farm on Megill Road for over 50 years and he also raised turkeys at Hinks Turkey Farm for over 40 years. 

Ray was a veteran of the Korean War where he was wounded while serving his country. He was a former member of the American Legion Post No. 346, Neptune, NJ.   Ray was self-educated in weather, medicine and audio visual techniques.  His true passion of Rock & Roll and love of dancing was admired by many who knew “Mean Jean” the dancing machine. 

He was predeceased by two sisters, Carrie Brown and Laura Hanson; a brother, Stephen Megill. Surviving are two sisters, Miriam Miller of Long Branch and Helen Megill of Farmingdale.  He was a loving uncle to many nieces, nephews and numerous great nieces and great nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his graveside service on Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at 10:00 AM at Glenwood Cemetery, Monmouth Road, West Long Branch, NJ, with the Rev. Dr. Wayne Richards, Officiating.  Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road, (Route 524) Freehold Township, NJ. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Ray’s memory may be made to the Parkinson’s Research Foundation, P.O. Box 20256, Sarasota, Florida 34276.
