Batteries Stolen From Auto Store Overnight Tuesday
Howell police hoping for the public's help catching thief
A thief made off with a pallet of heavy car batteries from a Route 9 auto business overnight Tuesday.
Around 11:30 p.m., police say someone stole 45 batteries from behind the Pep Boys auto store. The batteries were all marked with a "core'' sticker, and all were loaded into a white, 24-foot box truck with light blue lttering on the cab, according to Sgt. Eileen Dodd, Howell Police spokeswoman.
A Pep Boys employee saw scrap metal inside of the truck, in addition to the batteries. The truck has a New Jersey license plate on the rear of the truck, but appears to have no front plate, Dodd said.
