Charges Filed After Morning Crash

Accident closed Old Tavern Rd. for several hours

Just before 5 a.m. on Thursday a crash was reported at the intersection of Old Tavern Rd. and Manassa Rd. 

The reported that a car driven by Erik Braunstein, 20, of Emory Street in the township had crashed his 2004 Honda CRV into a pole in the area. Detective Sgt. Eileen Dodd said Braunstein's car had left the road before striking the pole and breaking it into several pieces. 

As a result of the accident Braunstein was arrested for driving under the influence. He was also charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence, operating a motor vehicle while in possession of a controlled dangerous substance and reckless driving. He was also charged with failure to drive within a single lane and possession of marijuana under 50 grams. He was released on summonses.

Old Tavern Rd. was closed until 4 p.m. while crews worked to repair the pole. Braunstein was not injured as a result of the crash.
