Cranbury Township Man, 27, Dies At I-195 Accident Scene After Being Ejected

Driver apparently lost control traveling eastbound, ended up in westbound lanes, police said.

A 27-year-old Cranbury Township man died from injuries he suffered after being ejected from his motor vehicle in a 10:48 a.m. accident on I-195 at the Jackson/Howell Township border today.

Carl Henninger was traveling eastbound in a Chevy Lumina when he apparently lost control, ran off the left side of the center median and struck another vehicle on the westbound side, State Police Spokesman Sgt. Adam Grossman said.

Henninger was pronounced deceased at the scene, said Grossman.

The driver of the vehicle struck by Henninger, Jennifer, Balka, 22, of Wall Township, was transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune, with minor injuries, police said. No further information was available as to Balka's condition.

Balka was driving a Buick Century.

The accident occurred at milemaker 23.8.

All lanes on I-195 westbound east of exit 22 - CR 638 in Jackson Township near the exit for Route 9 in Howell Township were closed for approximately four hours during the accident investigation.

The incident wreaked havoc with traffic on Route 9 in Howell Township as well, eyewitnesses report.

Investigating are the Hamilton station NJ state trooper fatal accident team, along with the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office.
