SLIDESHOW: Firefighters Remember Their Fallen Brothers

Annual memorial held at Monmouth County Fire Academy

Hundreds of firefighters from around the county came to the Monmouth County Fire Academy on Sunday morning to honor their 43 brothers who lost their lives in the line of duty.

The ceremony included not only first responders but also other local officials from the Monmouth County Board of Chosen Freeholders.

To honor those who were lost a rose was laid at the memorial, which is located at the front of the academy. There also was an awards ceremony to honor local firefighters for a variety of accomplishments and achievements.

God bless those who are dedicated to helping others--whether you are paid or a volunteer. These men and woman are available 24/7 to assist in whatever emergencies they have been trained for. I just hope none of the Republican assembly people and state senators from Monmouth County were present--they ALL voted to reduce the take home pay of firefighters and other emergency workers by having them pay more into their health benefits and pension plans.
They will, as I, will remember in November!
