Freehold Resident Charged After Crashing Into Howell Business

Accident happened early Thursday morning

The Howell Police Department responded to the scene of a crash at 4 a.m. on Thursday morning at the intersection of Route 524 and Wyckoff Mills Road. 

According to Capt. Andy Kudrick of the Howell Police Department when Ptl. David MacNeil responded to the scene he found a 2002 Acura driven by 21-year-old Freehold resident Michael Miranda had crashed into the Temp Rite Heating and Cooling business at the intersection.

A preliminary investigation revealed that Miranda had been driving north on Wyckoff Mills Rd. "at a high rate of speed," according to Kudrick. Miranda then attempted to stop quickly and began to skid which resulted in him going across Route 524 and into the local business.

Miranda suffered a laceration to his head and a foot injury and was transported by the Howell First Aid Squad to Jersey Shore University Medical Center for treatment. 

After further investigation Miranda was issued citations for driving while intoxicated and reckless driving.

The Adelphia Fire Department responded to the scene to provide support beams for the exterior of the building. The Howell Township building inspector also responded to the scene and deemed the building unsafe and uninhabitable until more work is done on the structure.
