Heart Attack Likely Contributor to Fatal Thursday Crash

Passenger suffered minor injuries

A car crash on Route 34 North left the driver of one car dead and his passenger with minor injuries.

According to Ptl. Riaz Motani 81-year-old Frank Novac of Union was driving his 2005 Chrysler Town & Country silver wagon when it is believed that he suffered a heart attack causing him to lose control of his vehicle. 

Novac's vehicle swerved across the southbound lanes of the road before crashing into several trees on the west side and overturning on the southbound lanes.

After the crash attempts were made by police and medical personnel to revive Novac before he was transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. 

His wife, 82-year-old Theresa Novac was also taken to the hospital for medical evaluation of minor injuries.
