Howell Lawyer Arrested at Keyport Courthouse

Police: Richard B. Butler found with cocaine in his sock

Howell resident Richard B. Butler went to the Keyport courthouse on Friday morning as an attorney representing a client and ended the day being arrested on a variety of charges including possession of a controlled dangerous substance.

According to the Keyport Police Department while Butler was in court his parked car rolled into another vehicle. While he was checking on his car Keyport Police Sgt. Michael Ferm discovered that his license had been suspended.

In addition Butler was found to have two active warrants out of Colts Neck and Freehold Borough. While being processed following his arrest Butler was found to have been hiding cocaine in his sock.

Butler faces charges of possession of a controlled dangerous substance, driving with a suspended driver's license, and driving an uninsured motor vehicle. He posted the bail for the warrants and was issued summonses by Sgt. Ferm.
