Police: Howell Officer Injured by 19-Year-Old Neptune Student

A combative student left a Howell police officer injured following an incident at a local school last week, according to the police department.

On July 15 at a little after 10 a.m. officers were sent to the Coastal Learning Center on Arnold Boulevard when it was reported that 19-year-old Sydeik Malone was “agitated,” according to Detective Sgt. Eileen Dodd of the Howell Police Department.

When officers arrived to attempt to calm Malone, he reportedly threw himself at Cpl. William Bonner, sending him into a wooden door and causing him to hit his head and fall. Dodd said Malone then kicked Bonner while he was down and attempted to fight other officers before he was eventually subdued. He was also found to have “several loos prescription pills,” in his pocket according to Dodd.
