Howell Pair Indicted on Several Charges

Charges include aggravated assault and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose

A Monmouth County grand jury has indicted a pair of Howell residents on a variety of charges. 

Anthony J. Nilio, 19, of Pine Needle Street and Andrew P. Simmons, 18, of Elizabeth Court face an indictment of nine different charges. 

The pair are charged with one count of second degree aggravated assault for an incident that happened in Howell on Aug. 21, 2011. They are also charged with one count of third degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, identified as a bat on that date as well as one count of fourth degree unlawful possession of a weapon for a bat as well.

Simmons is also charged with third degree aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, which the indictment identifies as a knife. He also faces one count of third degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose for possession of a knife. He is also charged with one count of fourth degree unlawful possession of a weapon for possessing a knife.

In addition to the weapons charges, Simmons is charged with one count of third degree terroristic threats as part of the Aug. 21 incident. He and Nilio are also charged with one count each of fourth degree obstructing the administration of law or other governmental function.
