The announced on Thursday that two residents have been charged in a burglary on Aldrich Rd. on July 22.
Detective Sgt. Eileen Dodd reported that at 6:30 that night officers were dispatched to a reported burglary after a resident heard a window break at a neighbors house and confronted two male subjects who fled.
Dodd said the witness was able to take a picture of one of the subjects with their cell phone and called police. The subjects were followed by the witnesses family members into the Glen Arden Development.
Ptl. Rich Robertiello, upon seeing the picture recognized the subject as 19-year-old Max Welger of Cobblestone Court and the second subject was later identified as 20-year-old Brendan Joyce of Drum Ct.
Welger and Joyce were charged with burglary, conspiracy and criminal mischief. Bail was set at $12,500 with no 10 percent for Welger option and he was taken to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution (MCCI) in lieu of bail.
Joyce, who could not originally be located turned himself in at police headquarters shortly before 2 a.m. He also had a warrant from Monmouth County Probation and his bail was set at $25 thousand.
When he was taken to the MCCI Dodd said Joyce was found to be in possession of "a large amount of heroin, a hypodermic needle, matches and another unknown substance," during a body cavity search. He was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance for the heroin and possession of a hypodermic syringe.
