As drivers were starting their holiday weekend last week, the Howell Township Police Department and the Monmouth County DWI Strike Force worked together to set up a DWI checkpoint in town.
Last Wednesday night the location was established at the Regal Plaza on Route 9 North from 11 p.m. that night until 3 a.m. the following day.
According to Sgt. Joseph Markulic the efforts of the checkpoint resulted in a total of 13 summonses being issued. They included, Lisa Falcone, 48, of Howell being charged with driving while intoxicated, Alissa Austin, 23, of Plantation Fl. charged with two counts of possession of a controlled dangerous substance and Sionhan Jackson, 27, of Toms River facing charges of possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle.

In addition, Cody Wittenberg, 21, of Howell was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and Abraham Herrera-Carmona, 26, of New Brunswick was arrested on an outstanding warrant.
