The Howell Township police department reported on their facebook page that the search for a male who ran from his car during a traffic stop was successful and the suspect has been apprehended.
The incident began at approximately 9 p.m. in the vicinity of the Manasquan Reservoir, according to wire reports.
Police reported at 10:27 p.m. on their facebook page that the suspect was apprehended.
Unconfirmed reports describe the suspect as knocking on a door of a private residence prior to being arrested.
No further information was available.
Police had reported that the suspect was possibly armed and that residents should not answer their door to strangers and should contact the department by dialing 911 if they were approached or saw anything suspicious.
According to a post on the department's Facebook page, the area that was searched included West Farms, Casino and Peskin Roads.
The subject was described as a black male, wearing grey sweatpants, a grey hooded sweatshirt and sneakers with 'reflective markings.'
As part of the search, the Wall Township police department, a state police helicopter and K9 unit were utilized in what was described as an "intense search."
