Howell Police Seek Witnesses to Wednesday Hit and Run

Accident occurred near Route 547 and Easy Street.

The Howell Police Department is seeking the public’s help in identifying a driver involved in a hit and run accident in the township on Wednesday afternoon.

Ptl. Riaz Motani reported at around 2:30 James Ryan of Bayville was making a left from Route 547 southbound onto Easy Street in a box truck belonging to the Puglisi Egg Farm. According to eyewitness reports the truck was struck by a red truck with a plow on it. The box truck was reportedly pushed toward Easy Street and overturn.

Ryan suffered “numerous lacerations throughout his body,” according to Motani and the truck spilled a considerable amount of oil onto the roadway. Ryan was removed from the truck with the help of witnesses and the truck was uprighted by Taylor’s Towing.

Several howell agencies responded to the crash including the Ramtown Fire Department and the Ramtown First Aid Squad as well as the Squankum and Southard Fire Departments. The Howell Township Department of Public Works and Office of Emergency Management also responded as did the Monmouth County Road Department.
