Howell Resident Indicted for Assaulting Police Officer
Monmouth County grand juries hand down indictments
Robert Oefelein, 43, of Chinkaberry Ct. was indicted on several charges by a Monmouth County grand jury stemming from an incident in June involving a member of the Howell Police Department.
Oefelein faces two counts of third degree aggravated assault of a police officer on or about June 26.
He also faces one count of third degree resisting arrest and one count of third degree possession of a controlled dangerous substance which was identified in the indictment as cocaine.

The indictment also includes one count of fourth degree criminal mischief from the incident. Oefelein is alleged to have shattered the glass of a coffee table "so as to endanger person or property," according to the indictment. The damage from the broken table is said to cost over $500.
Oefelein also faces one count of fourth degree hindering apprehension for the possession charge by "giving false information to a law enforcement officer."

In other indictments:
William Acquaviva, 20, of Hancock Ct. was indicted by a Monmouth County Grand Jury on one count of third degree possession of a controlled dangerous substance.
According to the indictment on or about Aug. 1 Acquaviva was found to be in possession of heroin in the township.
