UPDATE: Intersection Reopened After Crash

Second night of power problems in the town

Following an accident in Jackson that knocked out a street signal in Howell the police department is reporting that as of 11:30 the intersection is now back to normal.

The Howell Police Department reported on their Facebook page that an accident in the nearby town knocked out power to part of the township and the light at the intersection of Route 9 and Georgia Tavern Rd. in Jackson causing power outages in the town. 

According to the department the intersection in that area has a traffic signal that as of 10:30 was not functioning. There was no word about when the power would be restored or the light back in working order.

JCP&L is reporting on its website that more than 1700 township residents were reporting outages as of 10:45 on Wednesday night. There are also almost 600 Jackson residents without power. As of 11:30 the number of Howell residents without power had dropped to five with Jackson's number dropping to a still relatively high 416.

More than 1000 township residents on Tuesday night as well after a transformer issue caused outages near the Freehold border.
