Lakewood Resident Injured in Tuesday Night Crash

Taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center

The Howell Police Department responded to the scene of a one car crash on Tuesday night when a Lakewood resident drove off Old Tavern Road and struck a tree. 

Sgt. Joseph Markulic said 39-year-old Hector Rodriguez was driving east in a 1994 van when he drove off the road a the "S" curve and struck a tree on the passenger side of his car. From there he hit another tree head on trapping himself in the van. 

Markulic said Rodriguez was extricated by members of the Squankum Fire Department and taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center by the Ramtown First Aid Squad and paramedics from MONOC. As of Tuesday night Rodriguez was listed in critical but stable condition.

The investigation is ongoing and summonses against Rodriguez are still pending. Markulic said at this time "alcohol is not being ruled out."
