In the wake of a fire in Jackson that brought departments from all over Monmouth and Ocean Counties together to battle a Jackson firefighter’s family is left starting from scratch.
The Southard Fire Department reported on its Facebook page that a fire on Round Hill Road in Jackson originally brought the Jackson Mills and Caseville Fire Companies to the scene. It was the address of one of the Jackson Mills firefighters.
Firefighters from New Egypt, Millstone, Freehold and Howell also responded to the scene as the whole house was on fire by the time the first engines arrived.
As the family starts to rebuild the local department is collecting gift cards to at least start the family’s recovery efforts. There will also be a fund set up soon to collect monetary donations.
