Monday Car Fire Extinguished at White Street WaWa

No injuries reported from fire at local gas station.

A Howell resident pulled into the Wawa near White Street on Monday with what she thought was a flat tire, what she found was a much hotter situation.

Detective Sgt. Eileen Dodd reported 52-year-old Donna Dutton of Howell drove her 2012 Dodge Caravan to the WaWa off of Route 9 hoping to use one of the air pumps at the station to fix her flat tire. When she got to the pump Dutton reported seeing that her car was on fire.

Several local fire departments including the nearby Freewood Acres, Ramtown and Southard Fire Departments as well as the Howell Fire Bureau responded to help extinguish the fire. Dodd Said Dutton’s car was badly damaged by the fire and had to be towed and added that shrubs on the property were also damaged. No injuries were reported from the fire.
