Monday Crash Caused Major Delays on Route 9

One serious injury in afternoon accident

Traffic on Route 9 was backed up on Monday after an accident near the intersection with Stanley Blvd. 

Sgt. Joseph Markulic of the Howell Police Department reported that Henry Ayoung, 85 of Howell, was driving a 2012 Chevy Cruz southbound on Route 9. Ayoung then reportedly hit a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by Dwana Lada, 44, of Brooklyn NY from behind.

Markulic said after hitting Lada's car Ayoung "continued south in an erratic behavior," at which time he hit a 2007 Hyundai driven by 54-year-old Elaine Dymyd of Howell. Ayoung's car continued in the shoulder before hitting Audrey Hassan, 54, of Howell in the rear of her vehicle.

Ayoung's car then overturned just south of Stanley Blvd. according to Markulic. He was removed from the car by the Freewood Acres Fire Department and was transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center where he was being treated for "non-life threatening injuries."

Hassan and her passenger Yilmaz Hassan were taken to Centra State medical Center after complaining of being in pain. There were no other reports of injuries.
