Motorcyclist Identified In Fatal Crash In Howell Thursday Morning

Here is the sequence of events police believe led to the accident at Squankum Yellowbrook Rd and West Farms Rd.

The motorcyclist who died in Thursday's accident at Route 524A (Squankum Yellowbrook Rd) and West Farms Road has been identified by police as Sanit Sungsuwan, age 58 of Howell.

Howell Sgt. Eileen Dodd explained how police think the accident unfolded at the intersection.

Sungsuwan was traveling eastbound on his 2002 Harley Davidson motorcycle along Squankum Yellowbrook Rd around 8:09 a.m., approaching the stop sign at the intersection at West Farms Rd.

Two vehicles were stopped at the intersection, facing each other.

A 2005 Honda CRV, operated by a 19 year-old woman from Eatontown was stopped at the stop sign, facing southwest, preparing to go straight across the intersection.

A 2009 Toyota Camry, operated by a 39 year-old woman from Howell, was stopped at the stop sign facing northeast, preparing to make a right turn onto Squankum Yellowbrook Rd.

The drivers of both cars told police that they did not see the motorcycle coming.

The Honda CRV entered the intersection and collided with the motorcycle. The motorcycle hit the front quarter panel of the Honda, and the Honda struck the Toyota near the driver side rear, as the Toyota had just entered the intersection, by beginning to make a right turn onto Squankum Yellowbrook Rd.

Sungsuwan was critically injured. Police officers performed CPR and the Howell Police EMS Unit and paramedics from MONOC continued lifesaving efforts as they transported him to Jersey Shore Hospital, where he died of his injuries.
