No Injuries Reported in Route 33 Fire

Assisted living location suffers minor damage.

A small fire at an assisted living facility on Route 33 was contained thanks to the work of local fire companies and all residents were able to return to the building shortly thereafter.

Detective Sgt. Eileen Dodd of the Howell Police Department said the fire occurred at the Howell Haven Home at just before 11:20 Tuesday morning in a crawl space under a rear stairwell. As a result of the fire the building sustained “minor damage,” but added that there were no injuries reported from the fire.

Responding to the fire were the Adelphia, Squankum and Farmingdale Fire Companies with mutual aid provided by the fire department from Naval Weapons Station Earle. The fire was investigated by Howell Fire Bureau and it was determined that the fire was caused by old wiring in the crawl space.
