Red Bank Cabbie Charged in Middletown Crash Found Dead

Autopsy to be performed Tuesday morning

The Red Bank Yellow Car cab driver who was facing several charges after a serious crash on Newman Springs Road, Middletown, last week, was found dead in his borough apartment Monday morning, Red Bank Police Capt. Darren McConnell said.

McConnell and Detective Wendy Samis responded to a call from 39-year-old John Curtis' landlord "at about 8:25 a.m.," McConnell said. "Curtis was found deceased by the landlord at his Monmouth Street apartment."

While an autopsy will be conducted by the Monmouth County Medical Examiner's Office Tuesday morning to determine an official cause of death, McConnell said  that there was "nothing suspicious about it" upon initial investigation, but "we will have to wait until we get that report."
