Red Light Runner Causes Two-Car Crash in Wall

Two taken to local hospital, traffic tied for an hour

An Ohio woman who blew through a red light at Route 138 and Allenwood Road in Wall Tuesday caused a two-car collision that sent two to a local hospital and tied up traffic for about an hour, police said.

Sharon Williams, 54, of Ohio, went through the red light around 11:49 a.m., hitting a vehicle driven by Francis Sullivan, 70, of Howell as he traveled on Allenwood Road. The force of the impact pushed Williams’ vehicle into the grass median of the intersection, nearly into oncoming traffic, Sgt. Heath Bono said.

Williams and her passenger, Rita Farbo, 65, of Wisconsin, were taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. Their conditions were unknown. Sullivan was treated and released, Bono said.
