Reported Red Light Runner Causes Wreck

Minor injuries reported following late night crash.

A driver running a red light late Wednesday night resulted in a two car accident on Route 9 according to the Howell Township Police Department.

Sgt. Thomas Weg reported at around 11:45 a 2012 Jeep Liberty driven by 68-year-old Israeli citizen Izchak Torchin was driving south on Route 9 in the area of Lanes Mill Road. Driving through the intersection Torchin reportedly hit a 1999 Toyota Sienna minivan which was heading west on Lanes Mill road being driven by Marios Rizk.

The impact of the crash caused Torchin’s car to leave the road and flip several times before finally coming to a stop more than 200 feet from the scene of the crash. Torchin was removed from the car by members of the Southard Fire Department and both drivers suffered what Weg described as “minor injuries.”
