Several Groups Respond to Thursday Crash

One Child taken to hospital after accident

On Thursday at 1:37 p.m. a car heading eastbound on Cranberry Rd. struck a dump truck towing a trailer at the intersection with Colts Neck Rd.

The driver, 32-year-old Gigliola Sherlis, of Wall was driving a 2003 Nissan Altima when she entered the intersection after reportedly failing to stop at a stop sign. 

Detective. Sgt. Eileen Dodd of the Howell Police Department said the truck was heading north on Colts Neck Rd. and was being driven by 68-year-old Richard Samaha of Howell.

Dodd said there were two children in the Altima with Sherlis. One child was 6-years-old and the second was 10-years old. Dodd said the 10-year-old suffered "serious injuries," and is listed in critical condition at Jersey Shore University Medical Center.

In addition to the Howell Police Department the Adelphia Fire Company and Howell Police EMS Unit responded to the scene. Also called were the Monmouth County SCART and the New Jersey State police Commercial Vehicle Inspection Unit.
