Because this article is specifically about two 84 year old people.

Right. Because men do no wrong and are perfect drivers.

Yes VoiceofReason it is about two 84 year old drivers that is rather obvious. Which is why I did say that I agreed with much of what is being said. I also feel it is appropriate to talk about the fact that whenever we read about this type of tragedy there never seems to be a shortage of senior bashing Yet the worse stats overwhelmingly are with other driver age groups but I see much less outrage for these other highly aggressive drivers who drive completely reckless. I believe we all see them on most any day of the week on the roads. So what I am saying in essence is that I feel that there is a bias toward the senior population that is unbalanced compared to the worse offenders on the road. And that is just my opinion but I have listened to the senior bashing all of my life. Still not a senior myself I just want to be honest. I have a feeling that some if not many who take every chance to bash seniors probably themselves have less than safe driving skills. Just saying LOL we should all be honest with ourselves before casting judgements about others then maybe make a change and become a safer driver. It would be good for all of us don't you think ?

As I said VoiceofReason I was NOT making a Gender bias statement just a factual one. If we as a society have gotten so politically correct that we have to ignore the facts we are in worse shape than I think we are already in. Please do not take stats personally. I'm sure there are lots of statistics that are not flattering for males either that's just the way it is. So lets use this information to help better ourselves not knock each other down That is not my intent at all thank you

Also I wonder how many people who have commented here spend time on the phone or text while driving ? The single biggest factor in fatal accidents just the facts check the stats not old people ! Lets see some criticism for those dangerous drivers ! They are all over the road every day ! Causing accidents big time, Everyone could lower the fatal crash rate today by never using the phone while driving ! And why don't the police enforce those laws. I can tell you why exactly. Because both the politicians and law enforcement are guilty of breaking those laws you see them on the road all the time making personal phone calls while driving . So while some people say that politics are involved in non senior testing which may be true. They also do not want to police themselves for what is now known to be the BIGGEST cause of accidents ! think about it and how do I know they are personal phone calls because you can see them on their personal cellphones all the time nice job 100 plus thousand a year and all the phone call you want while driving ! just saying
