As End of Summer Nears Plenty of Meetings to Attend

Four meetings on tap for this week

Between and there figures to be plenty of activity during what would otherwise have likely been another quiet summer week here in Howell. 

The meeting schedule for the week kicks off tonight with a Zoning Board of Adjustment meeting, followed by a Town Council meeting tomorrow. On Wednesday night the is scheduled to meet before the Planning Board convenes on Thursday. 

For the Zoning Board there looks to be just one item on the agenda as a resident of Snead Ct. is applying for a rear yard setback waiver for a swimming pool patio.

The Council meeting has a busy preliminary agenda posted. One item on that agenda is a presentation by Colonial Power Group presenting its possible plan for energy aggregation in the town. The plan had been by Township Manager Helene Schlegel at an earlier meeting with the council agreeing it should be further discussed. 

There is also a resolution on the agenda with which if approved the council would oppose the proposed "commuter tax," for residents of this state working in New York City.

With only a limited agenda last meeting due to the complaints over the council has also laid out four discussion items for Tuesday's meeting. The topics include deer hunting at Bear Swamp, farmland preservation, the sale of various township properties and energy tax restoration. 

There is also expected to be a public hearing for several ordinances, including one which would adjust the fees charged for the use of the . This is another topic that and the ordinance had been introduced at the July 17 meeting. 

One ordinance is also on the agenda to be introduced. If adopted the ordinance would change the speed limit at the north end of Colts Neck Rd. from 50 MPH to 40 MPH and add signage to the affected area. 

The next meeting for the council, scheduled for Sept. 4 is set to be held at the Echo Lake Pavilion with the regular start time of 7:30 for the public portion of the meeting. 

With the school year just around the corner, the Board of Education will hold the first of two scheduled meetings in August on Wednesday at Middle School North. Items on the agenda include an update from Deborah Pennell, Principal of and Diana Rocho, Principal of on the . 

Superintendent Enid Golden will also give an update on the new tenure law, which was recently passed as part of her report. 

As of Friday night the agenda for Thursday's planning board meeting had not yet been posted.
