Three Meetings in Three Nights in Howell

Zoning board, council and BOE make for a busy week

Between T and there will be plenty of meetings to go to this week in Howell that could have major repercussions for residents of the township. 

The meetings start tonight at 7:30 when the zoning board will hold their second meeting of the new year. The agenda is packed with some pretty big applications including one from . According to the agenda they are looking to renovate their location on Route 9. The company recently did a major renovation on their location just north of town that forced its closure for several months.

In addition to McDonald's, there is an application from Seven Oaks at Howell looking to consolidate eight residential lots and make 28 age restricted townhouses on Cranberry Rd.

There is a third application on the agenda time permitting with looking to build a gas station and convenience store on Route 9. This applicant had been before the board last year with questions raised about whether the site was big enough for the applicant's plans.

On Tuesday night the council will meet. The preliminary agenda does not seem to be too heavy with nothing listed for discussion and no public hearings on ordinances listed as of Monday morning. There is an ordinance up for introduction that would prohibit signs using red, amber or green lights within 100 feet of a controlled intersection.

On Wednesday night the Board of Education will meet at Middle School north at 8 p.m. Superintendent Enid Golden is scheduled to give an update on the . There is also a discussion item from Stephen Levine looking at the goals for the board in the week ahead. The goals could become more important now that the board's elections have been moved from April to November. 

For the sports teams, the wrestling squad is getting into the Central Jersey Group IV Tournament tonight. The third seeded Rebels will take on the sixth seed from East Brunswick at home. The winner will then take on Brick Memorial at the home of the second seeded Mustangs. With a win, Howell could put themselves in position for a from the recent Shore Conference Tournament finals.
