Volunteers Needed for 2014 Committees and Boards

The new year will be here before we know it and as 2014 arrives there are plenty of ways for residents to get involved at both the municipal and educational levels.

At the township level there are many boards, commissions and committees that will have vacancies for the upcoming year. That includes the Zoning Board of Adjustment, the Planning Board and the Shade Tree Commission.

Other vacancies are available on the Community Alliance, the Environmental Commission, the Farmers Advisory Committee, the Lake Restoration and Wildlife Committee, the Mobile Home Rent Stabilization and Control Board and the Open Space Preservation Task Force. The Senior Citizen Advisory Committee is also seeking new members.

Along with those vacancies the administration is also seeking a representative to the Monmouth County Board of Chosen Freeholders. Anyone interested in applying should forward an application by December 13 to Township Clerk Penny Wollman at PO Box 580 Howell, NJ 07731.

The Howell Public Schools are looking for members of various advisory committees including Community Interaction, Education, Facilities and Operations, Finance, Policy, Safety and Technology.

When the board holds its annual reorganization meeting in January the committees may be changed. Residents interested in volunteering should complete the form here or submit a letter of interest that includes the person’s address, daytime and evening phone numbers, email address and three committee choices in order of preference. A brief statement on your interest in joining the committee should also be included.
