District to Honor Former 'Stars'

Howell Township Education Foundation to hold annual event on Thursday

Once again the Howell Township Education Foundation will be honoring some of the many former district students who have gone on to accomplish great things after going through the local schools. 

The Second Annual Evening of the Stars will be held Thursday night at 6:30 at Middle School North and is free of charge. Last year was the with several notable honorees. 

This year's night will have four honorees for their contributions to their careers and their communities. "This year, the Foundation will recognize and celebrate the accomplishments of four graduates of the Howell Township Public Schools," a release from the foundation said.

That includes "two members of the Howell community who have worked throughout the years to provide programs that benefit Howell's children and one program that has supported the efforts of the Howell Township Public Schools through it's commitment to Howell's youth," the release said.

One of the recipients this year is Joshua Cicerone who after graduating from the Howell schools is now co-founder and Creative Director of Good Sense & Co. LLC based out of Brooklyn. He will be joined by Alison DeWaters LaBianca who is also a Howell graduate and now works as a podiatrist at Affiliated Foot & Anke Center right here in Howell.

Also being honored will be Donald Irvin, a former township councilman and co-founder of Howell Basketball, as well as Howell grad Zonda Sochorow who currently serves as the Chief Operating Officer of WHIT LLC in New York. 

The foundation will also honor one of its own on Thursday night. Anthony Novembre, a longtime educator, township resident and former chairman and founder of the foundation will be recognized for his work in the community. 

The "Evening of the Stars" will also honor a popular program in the town as well as the man who runs it. of the Howell Police Department is also the president of the Howell Police Athletic League and is also involved in the national organization. 

Because of his efforts and the combined work with the township and the board of education the PAL is being recognized as the STAR outstanding program. 

All members of the community are invited to attend Thursday night's event that will include a display of activities by the PAL as well as a dessert reception after the presentation. 

The Howell Township Education Foundation was started in 2005 and according to the release its mission is "the promotion, sponsorship and expansion of innovative programs designed to enhance and enrich the curriculum of our public school students."

In addition to this event the foundation also hosts a an annual "." This year's race will the the third annual event and is scheduled to be held June 2 at Middle School South.
