Howell Schools Closed on Friday

District looks to open Monday

The Howell Public Schools will be closed on Friday as the storm continues to recover from Hurricane Sandy and last night's snowstorm

According to a statement from the district, "Due to continued power outages, and poor road conditions, Howell Township Schools will not be in session Friday, November 9th.

Schools were closed all last week and had a delayed opening on Wednesday before the bulk of the storm hit. The Freehold Regional High School District had already announced that they were closed for the remainder of the week.

An email sent home from the local district said the extended closure will have an affect on the rest of the school year. "Please know that we are very anxious to bring our students and staff back to school but, as always, safety issues take precendent."

The email added, "We are also concerned about the break in instruction and have already begun to review our school calendar to determine changes that will have to occur to make up the lost days."

A revised calendar will be sent home in the "near future," according to the email with the new schedule for the remainder of the year.
