Newbury Student Gets Reporting Experience

When the Two River Theater in Red Bank was looking to promote one of its latest shows, the local establishment got help in that effort from an unusual source. Working with Kidsville News, the two organizations put stories together for the show "Honk, a Musical Tale of the Ugly Duckling." 

Of the six students chosen to be part of this project from around the county, one of them was Jessica Kaiser, a fifth grader from . According to Jill Martin, a counselor at the school Kaiser has taken parts in various parts of the project including interviewing members of the cast. 

Kaiser's participation started with a Nov. 13 kickoff party, which was held at the theater. Jessica had the opportunity to interview Doug Hara who plays the role of the cat in the show. Martin said Jessica asked him questions including "What are the most challenging parts of being an actor for the play," and "How do you overcome these challenges."

For taking part in the program Jessica earned four tickets to the show. In addition, her teacher Andrea Menhart will get a gift for the classroom from a website run by author James Patterson.

The story the young reporters wrote should be published in the December issue of the Kidsville News.
