Rebel Football Game to Appear on MSG Varsity

Contest against Braves to air on Monday afternoon

When the Howell Rebels take on Manalpan Friday night at home at 7 p.m. there will be plenty on the line for both teams. The stakes will be raised even more as the game is scheduled to be aired on MSG Varsity next week.

For the Rebels the game is a must win as they work to make it into the Central Jersey Group IV Tournament. Meanwhile, a win for the Braves assures them of sole possession of the A North title.

Howell Coach Cory Davies said even if the game was not being broadcast across the region, it would still be a big game for both squads. "I think it's interesting and exciting for our kids to be able to have that kind of situation," he said. Davies said even without the cameras the coaches have been talking to their players about the importance of the game for the future of the season.

Having stepped away from Shore Conference play last week to beat Davies said he was more nervous about a game against an unknown opponent than one they know they play at least once a year. "This one we know what's ahead of us and the kids do as well."

With the Braves entering the game at 4-1 and the Rebels holding a 3-3 record the coach said he feels good about his squad's chances. "We're thinking about our opportunity. Great moments come from great opportunities and we're hoping to have a great moment.
