BlueClaws Making Short Return Home, Bringing Big Name With Them

Number one pick Bryce Harper and Hagerstown Suns coming for four-game series

When the Lakewood BlueClaws return home on Friday night, they will not be able to get too comfortable, but they will give their fans a chance to see one of the biggest names in the South Atlantic League take the field.

The game on Friday kicks off a four-game series with the Hagerstown Suns, an affiliate of the Washington Nationals. The main player on that team is none other than Bryce Harper, the top pick in the 2010 amateur draft. And while it is still very early in Harper's professional career, as of Thursday afternoon he was hitting .396 with eight homers and 30 RBI.

And of course it would not be a BlueClaws homestand without a wide variety of promotions to appeal to fans of all ages. Following Friday's 7:05 game, there will be the usual fireworks display to light up the Lakewood sky.

Then on Saturday, even four-legged friends can come for some fun. It is the annual "Bark in the Park" day at First Energy Park. Human fans can bring their dogs and will have the chance to enter their pets in contests with games and other activities for everyone to enjoy. There will also be a pre-game parade at 3 p.m. before the first pitch, which is scheduled for 4:05 p.m..

Sunday is "Brick Day," at the ballpark. The 1:05 p.m. game is a celebration of the town and also will be a kids eat free day with plenty of characters in the stands to entertain those young fans in attendance. Monday is also a kids-eat-free game that also will feature fans from the Ocean County YMCA.
