BlueClaws Return From All Star Break With Brief Stop at Home

Welcome Delmarva Shorebirds to town

After sending five members of the team to the South Atlantic League All Star Game, the Lakewood BlueClaws are back in town tonight for a quick four game series with the Delmarva Shorebirds.

While the chance of rain throughout the rest of the week could put a damper on the series, if the games go through there should be plenty for fans to see and do beyond the action on the diamond.

The action kicks off tonight with a special appearance from a representative of the big league club. The Phillie Phanatic is scheduled to visit his old friend Buster at tonight's game to entertain the fans in the stands. The Phanatic will also not be coming empty handed as fans will be able to see and have their picture taken with the World Series championship trophies from the 1980 and 2008 seasons.

As with all Thursday night games, it is also Thirsty Thursday, which means $1 for beer and soda and also 50 cents for wings. Fans will also have a chance to enter a raffle for tickets to events at the PNC Arts Center. The BlueClaws will also be holding a troop supply drive where fans can bring non-perishable food and other items that they would like to send to the troops serving abroad.

If the skies stay clear tomorrow night then FirstEnergy Park will once again be illuminated by the weekly fireworks display that has entertained fans for many years. Then, on Saturday night the first 2000 fans will receive free visors to keep the sun out of their eyes and support their favorite local team.

The series wraps up Sunday afternoon when the younger fans will have the chance to meet Brobee and Muno from the popular television show Yo Gabba Gabba. The characters will be there as part of Kids Character Sunday when Buster will have other friends to play with during the course of the game.

Sunday will also be a special day at the park as it will be Breast Cancer Awareness Day. As part of that event there will be an auction of pink BlueClaws jerseys that will help raise money for the BlueClaws Charities.

The end of the series against the Shorebirds also means the last time the BlueClaws will be in their home clubhouse before heading out on an extended road trip. They will not be back in Ocean County until July 4 when they will kick off a seven game home stand. That will include three games against the Hagerstown Suns and four games against the Kannapolis Intimidators.
