UPDATED 5:54: The Jersey Shore has its first state finalist in Bryant Clagon of  Toms River South at 130. Clagon faced Charlie Huff, the top seed from Washington Township, and held on for a 2-1 overtime win.

Huff nearly ended the match with a takedown in the first overtime period but Clagon was barely able to hold him off and eventually came out with the win.

Tomorrow in the championship bout, Clagon will face Anthony Perrotti of West Essex who has won both of his bouts by pin to advance to the finals. Perrotti won the Region IV title and now has a 37-0 record.

He will now wrestle in the seventh- place bout against Steven Schneider of Emerson Park Ridge. The two both worked their way from the brink of elimination to make it to the medal round.

Schneider finished third in Region II and entered the weekend with a 37-3 record.

UPDATED 5:30: Toms River East's Richard Lewis lost his consolation semifinal bout to William Hagany of High Point,  5-4. The sophomore can still finish as high as fourth when he takes on Mike Pongracz of Delaware Valley.

Manchester's Ken Theobold is in action in his 125 wrestleback as we speak.

UPDATED 5:15: Wrestling is back and already a Jersey Shore wrestler has picked up a win. Brick Memorial's Joseph Ghione defeated Mike Andreano of Glen Rock Saddle Brook, 9-2. Ghione will now face Cody Barbiche of Delaware Valley who came into the tournament with a 36-0 record and the Region V title. UPDATED 3:32: There is still an hour and a half until wrestling resumes, but for those of you who have lost track, here is a look at who is left from the local Patch.com towns and who we believe they will be facing.

At 103 pounds, Brick Memorial's Joseph Ghione is still alive at the 103 consolations. Ghione will face Mike Andreano of Glen Rock Saddle Brook High School. As a freshman, Andreano has already taken home the title at Region II.   He entered the tournament with a record of 26-6 and has added two wins and a loss to that tally so far.At 112, Richard Lewis of Toms River East is in the consolations and will face William Hagany of High Point. The senior took second in Region I and had a 28-5 record coming to Boardwalk Hall before being bumped into the consolations.

Manchester junior Ken Theobold is still wrestling at 125 and will face Matt Sausman of Camden Catholic. Sausman is unquestionably a strong competitor having won the Region VII title while accumulating a record of 27-3 before making the trip to Atlantic City.

There is still a chance of a local bringing home a state title as two wrestlers find themselves in the semifinals: Bryant Clagon of Toms River South at 130 who will need to upset his next opponent, top seeded Charlie Huff of Washington Township. The Region VIII  champion  has a record of 32-1 after a pin and a decision in his first two matches this weekend. Also, Conor Brennan of  Brick Township. The senior will face Christian Barber of  Westfield. Barber's only loss this year came in the Region III finals. That loss was to Devin Geoghegan of Brearley who is also in the semis at the same weight.   Barber has a record of 39-1 making him a formidable opponent for Brennan, who is solid  with a 33-1 record. The final local competing is Kalyph Hardy of Central Regional at 160. Hardy will face Otis Wright, a senior from Montclair. With a record of 38-3 Wright took second at the Region IV Tournament. The competitors will be back on the mats at 5 p.m. with the semifinals and the next round of consolations.
