Howell Softball Players at Brookdale Score Big Accolades

Honors for Cassidy Brzozowski and Stephanie Grainger come from National Junior College Athletic Association.

Brookdale Community College sophomore centerfielder Cassidy Brzozowski (Howell) was named the 2014 National Junior College Athletic Association Division III Player of the Year. She was also awarded 1st Team All Conference, 1st Team All-Region, 1st Team All-American and Most Outstanding Defensive Player at the National Tournament.

The former Howell Rebel standout batted .477 with a .535 on-base and .742 slugging percentage. She had 63 hits, 17 doubles, 6 home runs, 53 rbi's, 46 runs scored, 18 walks and 15 stolen bases.

The Jersey Blues finished the season 41-9 and 3rd place at the NJCAA National Championship in Minnesota.

Also playing for Brookdale, former Howell Rebel standout Stephanie Grainger was awarded 1st Team All-Conference, 1st Team All-Region and 2nd Team All-American. Stephanie batted .368 with 32 hits, 10 doubles, 15 rbi's. 23 runs scored, 10 walks and 2 stolen bases as the starting catcher. More importantly, she was in total control behind the plate with a 1.000 fielding percentage. Steph also filled in at 2nd base and outfield with a total fielding percentage of .990, making her one of the best "Utility Players" in Division III Junior College.

In 2 years at Brookdale, both Brzozowski and Grainger have been directly involved in Brookdale's success, which stands at 100 wins and 14 losses. Together they also have won 2 Conference Championships, 2 Regional Championships and a 2nd place (2013) and 3rd place (2014) at the National Championship.
